Bulgaria

I've been to Bulgaria twice. Once foe an art residency and once for a marathon. I didn't get to see much of Sofia during the marathon except for around the race course because I was just preparing and recovering but it is quite beautiful. A kind of marxist charm to all the old buildings and also very nice people.

The art residency was in Varna in a disused bunker. Varna is a seaside town with sea baths and beautiful clifftop views!

The Bulgarian architecture also dates back to the bourgeoisie style but also there's a lot of avant garde.

Hipster is alive and well there too curiously enough.
