This has recently been thoughts about ridding everyone of their suffering and how to prevent the end of time... Big thoughts!
It can only really be calked a theological practice when really it was... Some kind of high level heroism. 
I was doing all sorts of things that were wacky ideas only possible to half believe. I never really stopped I still kinda do it.
